Many smaller guesthouses in Phnom Penh, Cambodia are row houses and may only have one emergency exit at the front of the building. The windows may all have permanent bars across them so in case of a fire there is only one exit.
Safety tip: do not stay in places with only one emergency exit and bars on the windows. Ask before booking if a guesthouse has multiple exits and a fire escape plan.
